Welcome back everyone!

Finally, it’s that time of year again and we get to pull out our gear and hit the pitch. Already there have been many changes in the club especially for the ladies’ section from new committee members to coaching staff and new members – an exciting year ahead!

Firstly, let me introduce myself:  my name is Neasa and I have recently been elected as ladies’ club captain. I have been a member of Weston Hockey Club for the past 17 years and have had many highs with the club.  I have also met some great and lifetime friends. My main role as ladies’ club captain in particular is that of the welfare of the female members of the club. So if you have any issues with training, coaching etc I will be your point of contact. Please feel free to call me or text me with any questions or concerns you may have. Or if you would rather speak to me in person you can chat to me before or after training.

Secondly, I would like to welcome the new coaching panel. Congratulations to Kieran Bolger, who takes up his new position as ladies’ first-team head coach. Congratulations to Seán Butler, Eoin Ryan and Emma Cunniffe who take charge of the ladies’ second and third squads. I want to also extend my thanks and appreciation to Carol Harrison who resumes her role aa ladies’ first-team manager. She has kick-started our pre-season with weight sessions in the gym, which are already paying off. I believe this will be an awesome season for the ladies’ side!

The committee regularly meet and have already several fundraisers lined up for this year. As you are probably aware, a lot of money is spent throughout the year on coaching, equipment and pitch maintenance etc. and I would gratefully appreciate all of your support in these fundraising endeavours. Please keep an eye out on Weston’s social media for more information.

I look forward to seeing new and old faces, and I think we are in for a successful and busy season!
